As a 26 year old female content creator who works from home, I understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It’s easy to get caught up in work and forget to take care of ourselves, but adopting healthy habits can lead to a better life both personally and professionally. In this blog post, I’ll share 10 healthy habits that you can adopt to improve your overall well-being.
1. Start your day with a healthy breakfast
As they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I used to start my day with a coffee without even eating beforehand and pleaseee learn from my mistakes. Drinking coffee on an empty stomach dramatically increased my anxiety for the day. Start your day with a healthy breakfast or nutritious smoothie instead! This will help increase your focus, mood, and wellbeing!
2. Get moving
As someone who works from home, I know just how easy it is to fall into the trap of sitting (or laying down lol) for hours on end. Make sure to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine. Whether it’s a quick morning workout, an at-home pilates session, or a walk outside, getting your body moving is crucial for your physical and mental health! I’ve started waking up early to get my workout in before I even start my workday and I can honestly say, this has helped my mental health and focus significantly! My favorite workout currently includes using a weighted jumprope like this one! If you want to make your pilates more intense or add a little extra burn in your walk, check out these ankle weights!
3. Stay hydrated
Don’t forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Drinking water can also help with digestion, reduce headaches, and improve your mood. I used to drink so much more water when I worked in office because there was always a water refill station. To combat the decrease in water intake, I’ve made sure to always have water stocked in my house!! Get one of these cute reusable water bottle to make drinking more fun 😉
4. Wake up early
Coming from someone who literally used to wake up 2 minutes before she started her work day, I can genuinely say that waking up 2 or even 3 hours before my work day has had such an incredible effect on my mental health!! It’s crazy how much better I feel when I have a full morning routine and quiet time to myself in the morning. Who woulda thought?? Of course if waking up at 6AM is too much of a change, (which believe me, it took me a looong time to get to this point), start by waking up just 30 minutes earlier. I’m telling you, it’s such a game changer!
5. Practice good posture
Sitting at a desk for hours on end can result in poor posture and back pain.. No fun.. Make sure to be more mindful in practicing good posture by sitting up straight and adjusting your computer monitor to eye level. This will help reduce the risk of developing back pain and other related issues.
6. Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep is so essential for your overall health and well-being. Make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night to help improve your mood, increase productivity, and reduce the risk of developing health issues!! Now that I’m older, oh my goodness I appreciate a good night’s rest sooo much more. 10/10 would recommend lol. Check out these satin pillowcases that are my favorite for the best nights sleep aaaand bonus points, it protects my skin and hair!
7. Eat a balanced diet
Eating a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help improve your overall health. I’ve noticed that when I eat a balanced diet, I’m not as cranky (lol), I can focus more, and I’m not as tired! Avoid processed foods and excessive amounts of sugar, which can cause a sugar crash and other health issues.
8. Practice mindfulness
Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and improve mental well-being. Incorporate mindfulness techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or journaling into your daily routine. As of now, I just practice journaling and deep breathing, but meditation is something that I hope to incorporate into my days. Check out these cute journals that will definitely make you want to pick up a pen and write more! I also love the question a day journal because it shows just how much I’ve changed/grown over the years!!
9. Stay connected
As nice as working from the comfort of your own home is, working from home every single day can most definitely feel isolating at times. That’s why it’s so important to remain connected with friends and family can help improve your mental well-being. Make sure to take the time to reach out to loved ones regularly, whether that be texting, a phone call, or a lunch date!
10. Set boundaries
As a content creator, it can be tempting to work around the clock. However, I’ve learned now that setting boundaries and sticking to a work schedule can help improve your overall well-being. Make sure to set aside time for self-care and relaxation to unwind!
In conclusion, adopting healthy habits can lead to a better life both personally and professionally. As a 26 year old content creator who works from home, I understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Incorporating these 10 healthy habits into your daily routine can help improve your overall health and well-being.
