As someone who has received fillers in the past for over 5 years now, I was no stranger to the possible complications that can arise from migration. Recently, I noticed that some of my filler had migrated above my lip, ummm no thanks. It literally looked like I had a mustache from the shadow of my migrated filler lollll, so cute, right? That’s when I decided to try Hylenex to dissolve the migrated filler.
What is Hylenex?
Hylenex is a hyaluronidase enzyme that is commonly used to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers. It works by breaking down the filler, allowing your body to absorb it more easily.
What to Expect During Your Hylenex Appointment?
I work at a medspa so I got this treatment done at work. My injector put ice on the area before injecting Hylenex above my lip which really helped with pain management. While it was a little painful when injected, the injector assured me that the burning sensation I felt was a sign that the Hylenex was working, so I was like okayyy go ahead lolol. We didn’t use numbing cream because honestly, it wouldn’t have done much since the burning is felt inside the skin.
What to Expect After Your Hylenex Appointment?
After the injection, about a day after, I experienced a gnarly bruise on the left side above my lip, but it was easily covered with makeup, thank goodness. It took about two weeks for all of the swelling and bruising to go away, but I already noticed a difference in the appearance of my lips, woohooo!!
While there are possible side effects associated with hylenex, such as allergic reactions or the breakdown of your natural hyaluronic acid, it is generally considered safe and effective when administered by a trained professional.
People often get Hylenex when they experience complications from fillers, such as migration or overfilling. It can also be used to help correct asymmetry or unevenness in the face.
In conclusion, my experience with Hylenex was successful in dissolving the migrated filler above my lip, yay!! While the injection was a little painful and caused some bruising, the results were noticeable within a short period of time. If you’re experiencing complications from fillers or unevenness in your face, hylenex may be worth considering as an option. However, it’s important to consult with a qualified professional to determine if it’s the right choice for you!!
