As a 26-year-old girl still trying to figure out life and what her purpose is lol, I am constantly striving to be the best version of myself. It’s been and continues to be such a learning process. Over the years, I have picked up several habits that have helped me along this journey. If you are also looking to improve yourself and become the best version of you, here are some habits that can help you become “THAT girl”:
1. Prioritize Self-Care
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that self-care is an absolute necessity. Whether it’s taking some well-needed time to myself without any electronics or indulging in my favorite treat, I now always make sure to take time to focus on myself. If you want to take care of others, you have to first start with yourself
2. Stay Active:
I thought I never really liked exercise, but I realized that I just had to figure out the right exercise routine for me. Exercise is so important for mental health. Find a workout routine that works for you and make it a part of your daily routine. For me, it’s pilates, jump roping, running (sometimes lol), and walking! I just got this walking pad that I’m super excited about. I decided on investing in a walking pad because I won’t be able to come up with excuses to go on a walk when it’s super convenient to get my steps in lolol. If you want to burn a few extra calories, try incorporating ankle weights or light dumb bells!
3. Set Goals:
Without a clear vision of where you want to be, it’s hard to make progress. I’ve learned this the hard way. I realized that I felt so confused and lost because I didn’t know what I wanted. Set realistic and achievable goals for yourself, both personal and professional, and create a plan to work towards them. If you have issues setting goals, look into a goal setting/habit tracker planner to get you on track!
4. Take Action:
I used to be the person that would just talk about my goals, read books about how to achieve goals, and write down more goals instead of taking action towards achieving them. I’ve learned that I had to eventually take the first step to achieving my goals. Start taking small steps every day towards your goals to make progress!! It can be scary, but so rewarding.
5. Practice Gratitude:
It’s easy to get caught up in the negatives, especially with everything going on in the news nowadays, but practicing gratitude can help shift your perspective. Take a moment each day to reflect on what you’re thankful for, because there truly is so much to be grateful for. When you focus on the positives, you start to notice more things to be grateful for!
6. Network and Connect:
This is something that I definitely want to work on more this year. A close friend of mine is constantly attending networking events and it has definitely inspired me to network more. Building a supportive network of people around you is essential for personal and professional growth. Attend events, reach out to like-minded individuals, and nurture relationships with friends and colleagues.
7. Dress for Success:
How you present yourself to the world matters.. When you look good, you feel good!! I never really understood the importance of this until about last year or so. I realized that when I actually put effort into looking good such as doing my makeup or dressing nice, I feel more productive and want to get more work done! Dress for success and take pride in your appearance.
8. Learn New Skills:
Constantly learning and improving your skills can help you stay ahead in your personal and professional life. Take advantage of the many free online courses, books available at the public library, and workshops to expand your knowledge!
9. Practice Mindfulness:
Being present in the moment and practicing mindfulness can help manage stress and improve overall well-being. Incorporate mindfulness practices like meditation, deep breathing, or journaling into your routine. I personally love the question a day journal but any cute journal would work too!
Incorporating these habits into your life can help you become the best version of yourself. Remember, everyone’s journey is different, so don’t compare yourself to others and celebrate your progress along the way!!
