In today’s world, cosmetic treatments have become increasingly popular among people of all ages. I wonder if it’s because of social media? From non-invasive to surgical procedures, the options are endless, and the results are transformative. I’m so grateful to be able to work at a medical spa because I’ve personally been able to try a few different cosmetic treatments, including lip filler, Hydrafacial, Hylenex, and neurotoxins. In this blog post, I wanted to share my experiences and the benefits of each treatment to hopefully help you decide if it’s something you’re interested in trying!
Here are the 4 Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments that I have tried so far:
1. Lip Filler
Lip filler is a popular cosmetic treatment that involves injecting a hyaluronic acid-based filler into the lips to add volume and enhance their shape. I’ve been getting lip fillers for over 5 years now. I always get about one syringe of Juvederm Ultra XC each time. My lips before lip fillers were thin, and the filler has definitely helped my lips look fuller and more defined. The filler looked completely natural for the first few times. However, the most recent time I got more filler added, it caused some filler migration which required Hylenex to dissolve the filler. (I discuss this more in detail later in the blog post). Lip filler treatment is quick and virtually painless after the numbing cream is applied, and I’m able to resume my normal activities immediately afterward!
2. Hydrafacial
Hydrafacial is a non-invasive facial treatment that uses a special device to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin. The treatment is gentle and painless and can be customized to address a wide range of skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and hyperpigmentation. I personally get it to help unclog my pores and help with acne. I tried Hydrafacial twice so far and I really like it! It made my skin feel cleaner and look glow after! The treatment was also very relaxing, and it made me feel refreshed and rejuvenated. I do notice slight peeling a day or two after my Hydrafacials, but other than that, nothing too crazy. I didn’t notice a difference in my acne to be honest, but I really like how clean it makes my skin feel.
3. Hylenex
As mentioned above, Hylenex is an injectable enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid-based fillers. I had previously had filler injected in my lip, but over time, it had migrated above my lip and left me with almost a mustache shadow lollll. My coworker suggested using Hylenex to dissolve the filler above my lip, and I was amazed at how quickly and effectively it worked. The treatment was a bit uncomfortable. It felt like it was burning inside my skin but it only lasted a few minutes, and the results were well worth it. I got a gnarly bruise on the left side above my lip, but makeup could easily cover it up. Please keep in mind that it takes up to 2 weeks for full effect, and you may need to go back and get more Hylenex, if it didn’t fully dissolve the first time.
4. Neurotoxins
Neurotoxins are injectable treatments that temporarily relax the muscles in the face, helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. I began using neurotoxins as a preventative measure in my twenties, and I have been very happy with the results. To combat wrinkles, I get neurotoxins in my forehead, glabella (frown lines), crow’s feet (around the eyes), and bunny lines (nose wrinkles). Not only does it help to prevent the formation of wrinkles, but it also slims down my face and helps with teeth grinding. This is when neurotoxins are injected in the masseter muscle. I prefer Dysport because it kicks in quicker and is cheaper for me. Xeomin didn’t last as long for me personally and Botox is fine but it’s more expensive.

In conclusion, cosmetic treatments can be a great way to enhance your natural beauty and boost your confidence. From lip filler to hydrafacial to hylenex and neurotoxins, there are a variety of treatments available to address a wide range of concerns. Whether you’re looking to add volume to your lips, improve the texture of your skin, or prevent the signs of aging, there is a treatment out there that can help. If you’re considering a cosmetic treatment, be sure to do your research and consult with a qualified and experienced professional to ensure the best possible results!!
